Workshop Description
It is commonly known that physical injury results in the soreness of the area affected. The impulsive response of an individual subject to this type of injury is to rub the affected area. The tactile pressure and stimulation of the skin receptors make them feel better. The technique of Neuro-Proprioceptive taping provides a similar, constant tissue-stimulation to the applied area which in turn delivers a beneficial analgesic effect through neuro-physiological stimulation as opposed to mechanical stimuli. This technique can also affect blood circulation to the area by providing continuous stimulation to the skin and subcutaneous tissues. The method can also be used to facilitate or inhibit a muscle, or provide structural support to the joint. Many areas or body parts can be treated effectively with this tape.
What you will learn:
- the fundamental concepts of Neuro-Proprioceptive Taping
- introduction to the six common corrective techniques: mechanical, functional, space, fascia, ligament/tendon, and lymphatic and discuss their application in a variety of clinical conditions
- Attendees will have ample time to practice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions.
- Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to discuss and apply the Neuro-Proprioceptive Tape to orthopedic & neurological conditions, and to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles, and decrease pain and swelling.
What to bring to class:
1 set of sheets
1 tank top and pair of running shorts
Dress in loose comfortable clothing that is easy to move in, we suggest dressing in layers so you can adjust yourself to the work and the environment.
