Description:
The Jellison method compiles various orthopedic modalities, such as neuromuscular, trigger point therapy, and others to combine them to treat specific chronic pain conditions. These conditions range all over. Examples would be: frozen shoulder, whiplash, headaches, migraines, post-surgery rehabilitation, plantar fasciitis, thoracic outlet syndrome, sciatica, and so on. The goal of the class will be to introduce students to this kind of work, and also get them to start asking questions and developing treatment plans for clients with these types of conditions. The class will also be to help students begin thinking outside of the box. Instead of working on the area that hurts, I want to get them to learn how to also work where the pain might be coming from. The work itself is very specific and targeted. It generally doesn’t focus on the whole body during a session unless the client is feeling all better from their original issues and just wants to come in for maintenance work. The work also includes providing clients with advice on body mechanics to ensure that the pain is minimized further, or stays away all together.
